vivdunstan: Fountain pen picture (fountain pens)
This dropped this morning. Be warned the video is over 2 hours long! New Hobonichi 2025 journals and other stationery products go on sale on 1st September.

I started using Hobonichi Techo journals this year, and have found it life changing. I need to blog about that properly sometime, and how I use it every day. I will definitely be picking up a new 2025 blank Cousin journal, though reusing my Hobonichi cover from this year. I will also be getting a 2025 Weeks diary. Maybe the Paddington Bear one, or one of the others. Again reusing my cover from this year.

Because I just need new blank internal Hobonichis I may wait to order from Amazon UK. Though the Paddington cover Weeks could sell out fast. Alternatively I will order direct from Hobonichi in Japan, or from Art from the Heart in Harrogate, who are getting a lot of stock in. Selling more expensive than bought direct from Japan, but with no shipping cost, and fast within the UK delivery. So it might be a good option. Will see on 1st September!

Another 3-card past/present/future spread, using the Urban Crow oracle deck. And musings on how these might relate to my current circumstances.

Warning makes me think again of the increasing signs I've had in the last few weeks that my neurological disease was going out of control. Even as I should be improving a little, as I was coming out of my latest 3-month-long post Covid vaccine neuro flare. I have now noticed these, and am alert to them. And will decide whether to re-raise my strong immunosuppression drug in 6 weeks time, if not sooner.

There isn't anything otherwise bad happening to me that can be linked to Mischief. I'm more minded by seeing it that I need to have playful fun, despite everything. So I'd like to take that as a reminder that I need to make an effort to have good mischief in my life too. And that's something I can do something about.

Gifts is a reminder of my upcoming birthday (a pack of playing cards birthday as I like to think of it!). I know that Martin has been getting some things in for me this week. He is also arranging a gigantic fudge doughnut cake again from Fisher & Donaldson, at my request. Though this year he will need to pick it up in person from the city centre shop. They no longer do local home deliveries.

vivdunstan: Some of my Doctor Who etc books (doctor who)
More information has been released about this today, including details of new cast members, and a little bit more about plot. For full details see here.

Leading the series are Russell Tovey and Gugu Mbatha-Raw, though not playing their previous Doctor Who characters of Alonso and Tish. Also present are UNIT's Kate Stewart (Jemma Redgrave) and Colonel Ibrahim (Alexander Devrient). Also returning are Ruth Madeley's UNIT scientific officer Shirley Bingham, and Colin McFarlane's US Army general Austin Pierce from Torchwood: Children of Earth.

The series focuses on how Earth copes when the Doctor is not around (*cough cough* Fourteenth Doctor *cough cough*). And the baddies in this series are the Sea Devils. Who recently appeared in a very poor Jodie Whittaker episode of Doctor Who. But were visually awesome. So fingers crossed for better this time.

Filming is underway, and will continue through to at least December. The series is intended to air on the BBC and iPlayer in the UK, and on Disney+ in the rest of the world.

Finally getting to this, though it will take us at least two watches to get through it, given how sedated I am. Eyes were peeled for Leaderfoot Viaduct near Melrose near the start! There was much excitement there when the filming happened.

Impressions so far, halfway through, are positive. Though if anything it seems over hectic: too many prolonged action sequences, not enough calmer bits. I don’t remember earlier Indy films leaning so heavily towards the former, but that may just be my bad memory!

I’m impressed by how well the de aging of Harrison Ford and Mads Mikkelsen worked. I expected it to be more jarring. I only found some bits when Indy’s face turned side on to look badly fake. I found the horse and bike race visual effects more dodgy. Amused to see a pipe band, in a bit filmed in city centre Glasgow.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge is doing a good job, and Helena is suitably unreliable and hard to pin down. Nice to see John Rhys-Davies again. Though he’s toned the accent down! And Toby Jones was fab.
