Looking ahead to Oxonmoot 2024

Working through the schedule for Oxonmoot 2024 in August/September - which I will be watching online on catchup for months after. And there are some marvellously titled talks. I particularly like "In a Hole in the Ground There Lived a Cassette", and "From Mushrooms to Man-flesh via Maggots: Food and Consumption in Middle-Earth".

Funnily enough I was watching Delicious in Dungeon just a few hours before you posted! I was just at the early stage that I'd got up to in the first manga book, and intrigued to see what critters appeared later. Martin was agog.

The anime has been quite a hit outside Japan, I believe. My nephew and his friends were watching it in the English dub when we visited for his wedding in March/April. It starts out as a really fun story about cooking dungeon critters, but actually takes a bit of a dark set of turns later on, from what I have seen of the anime ($DAUGHTER and $WIFE watch the Japanese language version).
