Working through the schedule for Oxonmoot 2024 in August/September - which I will be watching online on catchup for months after. And there are some marvellously titled talks. I particularly like "In a Hole in the Ground There Lived a Cassette", and "From Mushrooms to Man-flesh via Maggots: Food and Consumption in Middle-Earth".

The second of those is an interesting take. Mixes well with a book I've seen highlighting the food presented in Studio Ghibli movies (the latest one, the Boy and the Heron includes a number of eating scenes, while earlier ones such as Laputa and Spirited Away include multiple major food scenes), and of course the food-oriented "Delicious in Dungeon".

The anime has been quite a hit outside Japan, I believe. My nephew and his friends were watching it in the English dub when we visited for his wedding in March/April. It starts out as a really fun story about cooking dungeon critters, but actually takes a bit of a dark set of turns later on, from what I have seen of the anime ($DAUGHTER and $WIFE watch the Japanese language version).
