I mentioned over a month ago that I'd started rewatching Daredevil seasons 1-3, ready for the new Daredevil Born Again series. Which is a continuation to a large extent. I made some progress back then, but then stalled for a month. Yesterday I resumed, rewatching at speed episodes 5-13 of season 1, and so far episodes 1-10 of season 2. At this rate I expect to have rewatched or watched all 3 seasons before next week's new series launch.

To be fair I'm not watching the full episodes, skipping a lot of the lengthy fight scenes, and also skipping some of the more lengthy verbose bits. Typically I can get through a nearly hour long episode in 20 minutes. Even 15 minutes sometimes. Which has let me get through it quickly, in very limited awake time.

However I will need to pay more attention to most of season 3. I only watched the first few episodes of that originally. So I will want to take a bit more time watching that. But I still expect to get through the lot before the March 5th launch of Daredevil Born Again.

It's interesting rewatching even at speed. So many iconic moments. It also feels that season 1 was a more coherent whole than season 2, even if the additions of the Punisher and Elektra are generally successful.

I'm also struck by how long a lot of the fight scenes are, that I can largely skip this time, at least through to a certain point in season 3. And it doesn't look as though Born Again is going to tone down the brutality.

It's also apparent how good and effective the supporting cast is. Even if many of them are eventually killed off one way or another. And the plotting is strong too.

Anyway yes, Daredevil Born Again coming to Disney+ on 5th March. And I should have rewatched Daredevil's previous 3 seasons in time. Even if in my confusion I keep thinking they're still on Netflix, not on Disney+.

After just one series. Radio Times report.

Not surprising, not least given the quagmire of accusations circling around Neil Gaiman since July. Which are continuing to produce new ones.

That's also why we haven't rushed to watch it to be fair ...

Sandman and Good Omens TV series may be safer. To be fair Good Omens just needs one more series. And it has been commissioned. Sandman has finished filming season 2 I think.

I'm newly reading "Howl's Moving Castle" for the book club I'm in. Never read it, despite reading many Diana Wynne Jones books before. Also never seen the Studio Ghibli movie. However I plan to rectify that after reading the book! The movie is on Netflix, which we have. I was browsing a graphic novel version (volume 1 of 4) of the story this morning in Waterstones, using the images from the film. Managed to resist buying that. But then this afternoon found there is a playing card set based on it (I collect playing cards). Oops. Oh and I plan to watch the movie with the English language dub. The lead voice actor is Jean Simmons, who is one of my favourite acting folks of all time.

The book cover features two figures in a landscape looking towards a castle in the distance. The playing cards box shows a still from the movie, showing an old woman against a landscape with an ominous castle behind.

Continuing my watch of Turkish fantasy series The Protector, I finished season 1 last night. It ran for 4 years, so I have lots of episodes still to watch. Last night, though, for the last 3 episodes of the first year I switched to the original Turkish dialogue with English subtitles. This comes across vastly better acting wise than the English dubbed version I’d heard in earlier episodes. Season 1 ends on a cliffhanger, and I’m curious to see what happens next. They’ve also upped the jeopardy stakes considerably.

Have belatedly started watching this Turkish Netflix Original series. Which almost feels like a cross between Buffy and Moon Knight. There’s even a costume he puts on to become a superhero. Being dubbed it’s hard to judge the acting reliably, but it seems ropey in places. And it feels like the makers are running through a check list of key Istanbul sites and Turkish tropes to show on screen. But I am currently intrigued. It helps that the episodes are short. The series has ended now, but ran for 4 seasons, so there’s a good chunk of episodes to watch. I am currently working through the first year.
