Something wonderful just arrived from Felted Friends. A hand felted White Rabbit from Disney's "Alice in Wonderland" film. A favourite literary character from one of my all-time favourite books. And so very well done.
Awww. Just went and browsed their site. I'm tempted by the felt Gromit.
Also had one of those "Huh?" moments when I saw a beautiful felt mouse in a red cloak. It was labelled Mrs Brisby.
"What an odd typo!" I thought. "That's definitely Mrs Frisby. Definitely. Ummm..."
First shocked when I saw there were results for Mrs Brisby ("what the hell, brain, I can normally count on you to correctly remember the names of beloved anthropomorphic characters from childhood, even if you don't know the local MP or where you left your favourite scarf") then light dawned when Wikipedia explained the name was changed for the film because Frisbee's lawyers made a fuss about trademark infringement.
Ok, that post was about 90% longer than intended. But I love the felt bunny.
I think I liked the movie, but I still have this lingering sense of disquiet about it. Possibly due to the owl -- the distinctive design and animation, the sense of huge threat. That owl still makes me shudder!
There's a piece of graffiti art based on the movie here in Dundee. Martin took the photo in May, and we didn't realise what it was until someone mentioned Mrs Frisby in a response on Bluesky!
And glad it shows Mrs Frisby, and not the scary owl. There'd need to be a selection of brown paper bags and smelling salts kept next to it to assist terrified members of the public.
