Ooh that's a bit of a car crash interview with John Swinney on BBC Scotland just now. I'm a SNP supporter, but he seriously sounds as though he hasn't a clue about the public perception problems here. Still waiting anxiously to see my constituency result ...

I only saw his later speech this morning. What did you think his earlier issue was?

Well to be fair he didn't seem too prepared, and still shell shocked. But too much for me of what he was saying - not very assuredly - was saying good things the SNP have done in government, and not focusing enough on considering why the party hasn't connected with the electorate enough this time. And why the vote has dropped enough (to be fair just 6% or so down, but that's enough in the FPTP system) to lose so many seats. I didn't see his later speech but expect he'd have given a more assured and controlled speech later. This just wasn't it. And I say that as a SNP supporter and voter. Watching last night his interview also compared particularly badly against other politicians (including other SNP) who were being interviewed on BBC Scotland in the night.
