Worldcon 2018 surprise email

Rather bizarre to wake up to an email from the 2018 San Jose Worldcon. Offering me a print or digital (PDF) copy of the souvenir book I never got back then as a supporting member. From Bluesky the email has also baffled at least one other person, who didn't even remember for sure if they were a supporting member (yes, per the online list). Anyway Google Form filled out, and I have my PDF. I gather there's been a saga since ...

They were hit by a stupid lawsuit. They effectively "won" eventually but even so it cost them a large chunk of their post-con surplus funds, and they had to reserve as much as possible to cover the lawsuit, so held off on the post-con re-print and mailing of souvenir books, plus a few other normal post-con things. Having finally cleared the lawsuit they've been able to figure out what they could and couldn't do of the post-con things.

Yup much of that I read this morning. I'm normally fine with just the PDF, so was happy with that from San Jose today. But I will want the print copy of the Glasgow Worldcon we had attending memberships for but couldn't go to in person.

I asked Glasgow Worldcon if there was any chance of getting a printed souvenir book sent: Very much nope. "We recycled all the leftover Souvenir books soon after the convention so I'm sorry there are none left." a_cubed
