Happy 59th birthday Doctor Who, my favourite TV series since I started watching in 1978, with the first story in the Key to Time year of Tom Baker stories. Been a fan ever since, though somehow I did miss seeing (and knowing about) the TV movie in 1996!

I wondered if I might have seen any of the earlier Leela stories just before my starting run. But I remember I was absolutely baffled by who Leela was in the annuals when I got my first Doctor Who annual, which though Romana I was on telly had Leela still in the stories. Plus of course slightly off kilter artwork! But yup, Key to Time was a clear starting point for me.

I also definitely remember NOT being surprised by the regeneration to Peter Davison, having memories of the Pertwee-T Baker regeneration. After seven years of Baker I seem to recall lots of people surprised at the regeneration despite it being the fourth time.
