I remember when I found out that Gareth Thomas had lived not far from me as a child. Mind blown. Never met him though.
In other series Robin of Sherwood (mid 1980s) wasn't great at handling Marion.
But Babylon 5 (mid/late 1990s) had some extremely strong female characters. So that was progress!
