Putting these into a spoiler section to be on the safe side. Though they should be safe for later episodes.
Both enjoyed episode 2, though Martin was confused at the start. He'd thought the naked figure who crashed to Earth had landed near where Bronwyn etc. were and hadn't realised a hobbit (or proto hobbit!) had found him.
Some of the direction in the sea section was rather chaotic and it was a little unclear what was happening. However Halbrand was introduced effectively.
Liking the dwarves, though now wondering about the choices of specific accents for different groups e.g. Irish hobbits, Scottish dwarves, and northern English humans, at least in one area. Oh and rather posh English sounding elves. Kudos also to the Welsh actor playing a dwarf, who did a very reasonable Scottish accent.
I'm not sure the introduction of Celebrimbor was totally effective. It felt like blink and you miss it. But I did like the relationship between Elrond and the Dwarvish prince.
We always watch the making of bonus episode after each episode. The sea filming set was gobsmacking.
Oh and something else that came up in discussion with Martin just now is how sparse everything feels currently in terms of population. Though the dwarves had least had a better number. Eg seeing just a couple of elves at a time, including Elrond and Celebrimbor travelling together (with no sign of anyone else) from Eregion to Moria (sorry - easier to type!). I expect the numbers will ramp back up again later, but at the moment it feels like the money is very much spent anywhere other than on numbers of cast.
