Current reading: September 2024 edition

The books I'm currently reading. A mix of fiction (historical and fantasy), history, architecture/religion, Tolkien and space/astronomy.

Two rows of three books each: Queen Macbeth by Val McDermid, A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab, Clanlands by Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish, Steeple Chasing by Peter Ross, Adapting Tolkien essays, and Chasing New Horizons by Alan Stern and David Grinspoon

I quite liked the Schwab books, though I felt slightly unsatisfied that they weren't longer and with more exploration of the fascinating multi-verse she created. Perhaps she'll revisit this with other characters.

I'm about 1/3 through the first one, and liking, though wasn't so keen once a second POV character was introduced. Crikey White London is dark! Much darker than I expected going into the book. It reminds me of Michael Moorcock's Hawkmoon books. But liking. Though I am rather flitting about. So it's not quite grabbed me enough yet.
