Tarot

Trying something a bit different! Approaching this as a way of reflecting more on my life / circumstances / what I want to do. Also I have a soft spot for playing cards. The Tarot deck I'm using is designed by Night Circus author (and artist) Erin Morgenstern.

A tray with a mix of Tarot cards and books spread out on it. The cards have a black and white gothic style, and are the Phantomwise deck.

My favourite is the Robin Wood deck, but I've got several others that I also like.

Haven't touched them in several years. I see them as a good way of exploring my ow thoughts, or helping people look at their problems from a different angle (and they can also be a good aid when writer's block hits)

I like your deck. Enough Ryder/Waits to be readable, but with its own distinctive style.

A spread of chosen cards that represents how you're thinking/feeling, but without any written commentary, would be an interesting blog posting approach.

I like the LOTR deck, but one of the cards has an error. (Trying to remember now, but I think it features two dwarves who never actually met - and I have to mentally change the names when using it).

I find the LOTR deck is best for readings about the long term direction of one's life - this draws positively on the thematic elements.

No, I haven't read Calvino's book, but having done a quick google, and I can see it is an interesting concept. Reminds me of the Trek episode about the race who used mythological references as the basis for their language - the translator struggled with that and Picard had to work it out gradually.

Yes, you're right. Different deck. Mine is the older one. I traded it for a Thoth deck which I didn't like, with a woman I did a reading for.
I Just mentally change the name of the wrong dwarf when using it - the rest of the deck is fine.
