Next weekend viewing

After finishing Rings of Power last weekend we can start watching another series, an episode a week if we are lucky, and my health permitting. Next up is The Devil’s Hour, starring Jessica Raine and Peter Capaldi. Looking forward to this one.

I really liked it and, as I think I said in my hopefully non-spoilery review, that I'm interested to see where they go with the second season, since they really quite strongly finish this season's story in the six episodes.

Lockwood and Co is definitely fun. I'd have liked a little more in the first season. It seemed a little light, although at 8 episodes its the usual sort of length for these kinds of streaming shows at present. I worry a little about the setup and the cast ageing up quickly. The actors playing Anthony and Lucy are both 20 and the one playing George is 17 so they don't quite have the ageing up problem that Stranger Things has had in keeping its timeline straight. But if they take 18 months or more for each season then the actors could start looking way too old for the parts.

The Forbes reviewer has similar low expectations about Netflix renewals of this kind of show.

I did think of skipping shows like this until they get at least a second season since I was fed up of them doing a setup and not getting to the payoff. But, there are many good shows that I've enjoyed even just one season of, so, ho hum.
