Upcoming reading

I always have multiple books on the go. Usually a novel, some short story collections, and various non-fiction books. I’m about to finish a whole bunch of books, and am eyeing my next reads. Fancying a reread of Terry Pratchett’s Maskerade before going on to Wheel of Time book 4. I also have an upcoming book to read about rare bookselling in the 1990s, the first Heartstopper graphic novel, and so much more. I’m always very excited as I approach new books to read. And hope to find them fun and inspiring reads that don’t disappoint! I expect to post my next visual montage of books being read mid next week, when I will hopefully have settled on lots of fun new books.

One of the things my local con does recently is have photos of people's bookshelves and have a program item where we discuss what's on the shelves, how they're arranged, whether they're neat, tidy, keep the books in good condition, or whether they're higgledy-piggledy, damaging the books and in no particular order. We sk our guests for a few shots of their shelves, one or both of their collections of their own publications and their own library of others' books (I know of no author without an extensive collection of other people's books, usually both fiction and non-fiction). This year's (remote) guest was Larry Niven who has huge deep shelving on which the books are kept in pristine order physically and logically. Easier to do in California for someone reasonably well off: space to put them and money to have the shelves built.

Maybe I'll start a thread on my own blog with some shots of my bookshelves encouraging my friends to post theirs, too.
