1821

Just encountered this example of appalling handwriting from an era when it's usually very clear to read. This is from Hawick parish kirk session minutes for 1821. Luckily the person who wrote this only writes a few pages. But still mega ouch. This is remarkably bad for this period. Incredibly poorly defined letters.

An example of unusually bad handwriting from this era, remarkably loose and ill defined

The (Play) Box of Delights

Just arrived, the play script book of The Box of Delights by John Masefield. This is the version adapted for the stage by Piers Torday, originally staged at Wilton’s Music Hall in London, and now at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon.

Bye bye Your Cat magazine

So sad to see this magazine close down. I’ve been reading it since picking it up in Ninewells hospital shop during my summer of high dose chemotherapy infusions in 2012 (chemotherapy infusions for my auto immune neurological disease). It was a huge comfort then, and soon I was a subscriber. More recently the magazine shrunk in size, but I was still enjoying it. Will really miss it.
