Bigger on the inside

Transferring stuff from my old shoulder bag into a newly bought more compact one. And marvelling that the new bag has absorbed all the key things - with lots of room to spare - from the old bag. Excellent buy. Another Kipling bag for me - been a fan of their practical but stylish bags for decades.

Almost done typing 276 newspaper refs to travelling German accordion performer, tuner and repairer in mid&late 19thC Scotland. Just typed reports of performances in Orkney in 1865 including this one in Holm. Analysis and academic journal paper to follow.

Doctor Who in the cinema

Just checking for local cinemas near us showing the Doctor Who finale on 31st May (they're screening the last two episodes of the current season together). It's on in the Odeon (just up the road from us, in Douglas) and Cineworld (in Camperdown). And that's just in Dundee. We will be watching it at home. But yup, it's broadcasting in many UK cinemas. Vue too.

Professor of Hebrew

Exploring another branch of my maternal Scottish family tree, and finding a nephew of my 5xg-granny from Melrose who was a Professor of Hebrew, dying at North Leith in 1901. His dad, husband of my g..aunt, had been a schoolmaster at Galashiels in the early 1800s.
